إذا لم ألْقَ في أمْرِي شَفِيعاً

فتَرْكِي ما أُرِيدُ أجَلُّ شَافِعْ

فتَرْكِي ما أُرِيدُ أجَلُّ شَافِعْ

If I find no intercessor in my affair,

If I find no intercessor for my affair,

then my renouncing what I desire is the greatest intercessor.

Then my abandoning what I want is the greatest intercessor.

أأخْشَى ضِيقَ صَدْرٍ من لَئِيمٍ

أأخْشَى ضِيقَ صَدْرٍ من لَئِيمٍ

وصَدْرُ البِيدِ والطُّرُقاتِ واسعْ

وصَدْرُ البِيدِ والطُّرُقاتِ واسعْ

Should I fear a base man's narrow breast,

Shall I fear the narrowness of a mean man's chest,

when the breast of the deserts and roads is wide?

When the chest of the deserts and roads is so spacious?
