أهْوِنْhow contemptible بسيِّدis a leader of فِتْيَةٍyoung men نالgained الغِنَىwealth
أهْوِنْ بسيِّد فِتْيَةٍ نال الغِنَى
بدَناءَةٍthrough baseness مَنَعتْهُdenied him فيهمamong them رُشْدَهُhis sound judgment
بدَناءَةٍ مَنَعتْهُ فيهم رُشْدَهُ
How contemptible is a leader of young men who gained wealth
through baseness that denied him his sound judgment among them!
وعليهand upon him جُلْجُلُa bell سَبَّةٍdisgrace ولآَمَةٍand ignobility
وعليه جُلْجُلُ سَبَّةٍ ولآَمَةٍ
ستُشَدُّwill be fastened لكنbut هلwhether يُرَىis seen مَنthe one who شَدَّهُfastened it
ستُشَدُّ لكن هل يُرَى مَن شَدَّهُ
And upon him a bell of disgrace and ignobility
will be fastened—but will the one who fastened it be seen?
