لَعَمْرُكَ ما قلبُ النَّبِيِّ غَفَا ولاَ

لَعَمْرُكَ ما قلبُ النَّبِيِّ غَفَا ولاَ

عيونٌ له في ظُلْمةِ الليلِ رَاقِدَهْ

عيونٌ له في ظُلْمةِ الليلِ رَاقِدَهْ

By your life, the Prophet’s heart did not doze, nor

By your life! The Prophet's heart has never slept,

were his eyes asleep in the darkness of night.

Nor have his eyes in the darkness of night closed.

تَهجَّدتِ الأجْفانُ في ظُلْمةِ الدُّجى

تَهجَّدتِ الأجْفانُ في ظُلْمةِ الدُّجى

فبانتْ بِمحْرابِ الحَواجِبِ ساجِدَهْ

فبانتْ بِمحْرابِ الحَواجِبِ ساجِدَهْ

The eyelids kept vigil in prayer in the darkness of night,

His eyelids have kept vigil in the gloom of night,

so they appeared prostrate in the prayer niche of the eyebrows.

Prostrating behind the shrine of eyebrows bowed.
