وبُحَيْرةٍ بِفنائِها سَمَرُوا

واللَّهُو بالأحْزانِ قد شَمَتَا

And by a lake in its courtyard they conversed

By sorrows, they were entertained

وكأنما عَكْسُ الشُّموعِ بها

بَحْرٌ به المَرْجانُ قد نَبَتَا

And as if the reflection of candles in it

A sea in which coral had grown
