أَنا لقابل الورج وَلاغيه

وَلا لي بقسطموني ةلف الاغيه

I shall meet [unclear word] and converse with it.

I face the fate, undeterred,

Nor have I in Kastamonu [a companion—uncertain reading] to converse with.

No shelter will I seek,

يا ناهي لا تجر الميل للغي

بعينك طُول ما حنا غياب

O Nahi, do not draw the kohl-stick to entice,

Oh you who chide, desist your words,

Across your eye for as long as we are away.

While longing stays our creed.
