The lightning over the protected grounds kindled a flame in my heart,
The lightning of passion set my inner self aflame
and my eye raised clouds from its eyelid.
So my eyelids created clouds from their moisture

You rained upon the dunes and made their mantles quiver
and the great trees gave delight with sweetness from their branches.
And made the branches of the sand dunes fresh and sweet

So that it will lead me to seeing you in my dreams

Your beauty grew distant from its lover's eye
Your beauty avoided the eye of your lover for a while
for a while; what harm would it suffer by visiting and drawing near?
So what harm if the beloved visits, even from afar?
