أيا من جل عن كيف وأين

أيا من جل عن كيف وأين

ويا باري الأنام بغير من أين

ويا باري الأنام بغير من أين

O You who transcend all 'how' and 'where,'

O You Who is exalted above "how" and "where",

And O Creator of all beings, without a 'from where,'

And O Creator of mankind without a "where",

ويا أحد تعالى عن رشيك

ويا أحد تعالى عن رشيك

وعن كفؤ وواسطة وعين

وعن كفؤ وواسطة وعين

And O One, exalted above any partner,

O One, You are transcendent without a partner,

And above any equal, intermediary, or corporeal form,

Or peer, intermediary or witness.

ويا صمد تننزه عن زواج

ويا صمد تننزه عن زواج

وعن ولد بلا شك ومين

وعن ولد بلا شك ومين

And O Self-Sufficient One, free of marriage

O Eternal Refuge, You are above marriage,

And offspring, without doubt or falsehood,

Or a child, without doubt or uncertainty.

ويا من لست أرجو غيره إن

ويا من لست أرجو غيره إن

تفاقم حادث لحلول حين

تفاقم حادث لحلول حين

And O You in whom alone I place my hope, if

O You other than Whom I hope for naught,

A calamity grows dire with the coming of doom,

If events should worsen as time goes by,

دعوتك ضارعا كدعاء نوح

دعوتك ضارعا كدعاء نوح

ويونس يا مجيب الدعوتين

ويونس يا مجيب الدعوتين

I have called upon You, humbly as Noah prayed,

I called upon You pleading as did Noah,

And Jonah—O Answerer of the two prayers,

And Jonah, O Answerer of both supplications,

بما في الذكر من ألف ولام

بما في الذكر من ألف ولام

ومن ميم وقاف وعين

ومن ميم وقاف وعين

By the alif and lam contained in the Reminder,

By what is in the Remembrance of Alif Laam Meem,

And the mim, qaf, and ayn,

And Meem, Qaf and the Ayn.

وبالكتب المنزلة اللواتي

وبالكتب المنزلة اللواتي

كشفت بها مخايل كل رين

كشفت بها مخايل كل رين

And by the revealed books, through which

And by the revealed Books wherein

You dispelled the traces of every stain upon the heart,

You unveiled the guiles of every deceiver.

وبالإسم العظيم وكل اسم

وبالإسم العظيم وكل اسم

تقدس سره في العالمين

تقدس سره في العالمين

And by the mighty Name, and every name

And by the Magnificent Name and every name

Whose secret is hallowed throughout the worlds,

Whose secret is sanctified in the two worlds.

وبالعرش المجيد وحاميه

وبالعرش المجيد وحاميه

وبالكرسي ونور المنيرين

وبالكرسي ونور المنيرين

And by the glorious Throne and its guardian,

And by the Glorious Throne and its Protector,

And by the Seat and the light of the two luminaries,

And the Chair and the Light of the Two Luminaries.

وبالبيت العتيق وطائفيه

وبالبيت العتيق وطائفيه

وزمزم والصفا والمروتين

وزمزم والصفا والمروتين

And by the Ancient House and those who circle it,

And by the Ancient House and its Circumambulators,

And Zamzam, Safa, and the two Marwas,

And Zamzam, Safa and Marwa.

وبالقبر الشريف وزائريه

وبالقبر الشريف وزائريه

ويثرب والحمى والأبرقين

ويثرب والحمى والأبرقين

And by the noble tomb and its visitors,

And by the Noble Grave and its Visitors,

And Yathrib, the sanctuary, and al-Abraqayn,

And Yathrib, the Sanctuary and the Two Qiblas.

وبالجبل العظيم وقاصديه

وبالجبل العظيم وقاصديه

وغار حرا وبدر مع حنين

وغار حرا وبدر مع حنين

And by the mighty mountain and those who seek it,

And by the Mighty Mountain and those who seek it,

And Hira's cave, and Badr with Hunayn,

And the Cave of Hira and Badr along with Hunayn.

وبالقدس الكريم وطور سينا

وبالقدس الكريم وطور سينا

وتربة مريم والقبلتين

وتربة مريم والقبلتين

And by noble Jerusalem and Mount Sinai,

And by Noble Jerusalem, Mount Sinai,

And Mary's tomb, and the two qiblas,

Mary’s Grave and the Two Qiblas.

وبالملكوت والجبروت يا من

وبالملكوت والجبروت يا من

تملك كل سلطان وقين

تملك كل سلطان وقين

And by divine dominion and supreme might, O You who

And by the Kingship, Omnipotence, O You Who

Possess every sovereign and every smith,

Possess all Authority and Judgment.

وبالأفلاك والأملاك يا من

وبالأفلاك والأملاك يا من

أحاجط بكل ذي سمع وعين

أحاجط بكل ذي سمع وعين

And by the celestial spheres and the angels, O You who

And by the celestial spheres and the angels, O You Who

Encompass all endowed with hearing and sight,

Surrounds all with hearing and sight.

وبالرسل الذين وفوا ووافوا

وبالرسل الذين وفوا ووافوا

بوعد صادق من غير مين

بوعد صادق من غير مين

And by the messengers who kept faith and came

And by the Messengers who fulfilled and attained

With a truthful promise, free of falsehood,

The truthful promise without doubt or deceit.

وبالمختار شمس الكون طه

وبالمختار شمس الكون طه

إمام الرسل تاج الحضرتين

إمام الرسل تاج الحضرتين

And by the Chosen One, the sun of existence, Ta-Ha,

And by the Chosen One, Sun of the Universe, Crowned One

Leader of the messengers, crown of the two presences,

Of Messengers, Crown of the Two Exalted Ones.

وبالصديق والفازوق جميعا

وبالصديق والفازوق جميعا

وذي النورين بعل الدرتين

وذي النورين بعل الدرتين

And by al-Siddiq and al-Faruq together,

And by the Truthful and the Distinguisher, both together,

And Dhu al-Nurayn, husband of the two pearls,

And the Possessor of Two Lights, Lord of the Two Orchards.

وبالزهرا وليث بني لوي

وبالزهرا وليث بني لوي

وبالحسن المطهر والحسين

وبالحسن المطهر والحسين

And by al-Zahra and the lion of Banu Lu'ayy,

And by the Lion of the Tribe of Luway,

And by Hasan, the purified, and Husayn,

And the Purified Hasan and Husayn.

وبالأزواج والأولاد طرا

وبالأزواج والأولاد طرا

وبالعمين عيني كل عين

وبالعمين عيني كل عين

And by the spouses and children, all together,

And by the wives and children in multitudes,

And by the two uncles, the two choicest among all the eminent,

And the two maternal uncles, eyes of every eye.

وبالصحب الكرام وتابعيهم

وبالصحب الكرام وتابعيهم

ليوم الفصل بين الفرقتين

ليوم الفصل بين الفرقتين

And by the noble Companions and their followers

And by the Noble Companions and their Followers

Until the Day of Judgment between the two groups,

Until the Day of Separation between the two parties.

أنلني ما أرجيه وعامل

أنلني ما أرجيه وعامل

أمير المؤمنين بكل زين

أمير المؤمنين بكل زين

Grant me what I hope for, and treat

Grant me what I hope for and treat

The Commander of the Faithful with all that is good.

The Commander of the Faithful with all beauty.

وحجب ذاته من حاسديه

وحجب ذاته من حاسديه

بنور النيرين الزاهرين

بنور النيرين الزاهرين

And shield his person from those who envy him

And veil him from the vision of his enviers

With the light of the two radiant luminaries.

With the light of the two shining lights.

ووق سناه من خسف وكسف

ووق سناه من خسف وكسف

ورق علاه فوق الفرقدين

ورق علاه فوق الفرقدين

And guard his radiance against lunar and solar eclipse,

And protect his age from subsidence and eclipse,

And raise his eminence above the two Farqads.

And elevate him above the two bright stars.

وسربله بسربال التهاني

وسربله بسربال التهاني

وتوجحه بتاج الحسنين

وتوجحه بتاج الحسنين

And clothe him in a robe of felicitations,

And drape him in the raiment of greetings,

And crown him with the crown of the two beauties.

And crown him with the crown of two beauties.

وحط واكلأ ولي العهد والطف

وحط واكلأ ولي العهد والطف

به واحرسه من كيد وعين

به واحرسه من كيد وعين

And guard and watch over the heir apparent, and be gentle

And descend the Trustee of the Covenant and the Pure Child

With him, and protect him from guile and the evil eye.

Upon him and guard him from the plots of hostile eyes.

ونوره بإيمان ويمن

ونوره بإيمان ويمن

وصن علياه من عين وشين

وصن علياه من عين وشين

And illumine him with faith and good fortune,

And enlighten him with faith and prosperity,

And preserve his high estate from the evil eye and disgrace.

And protect his loftiness from the evil of an evil eye and evil tongues.

وأبق علاه مشكور المساعي

وأبق علاه مشكور المساعي

جميل الذكر هطال اليدين

جميل الذكر هطال اليدين

And keep him exalted, his endeavors gratefully praised,

And let his praiseworthy efforts endure,

Fair in renown, with both hands raining bounty.

Beautifully mentioned, blessed of hands.

ونج بينهما من كل هول

ونج بينهما من كل هول

ونولهم رضاء الوالدين

ونولهم رضاء الوالدين

And save their sons from every terror,

And deliver them both from every terror,

And grant them their parents' approval.

And grant them the pleasure of their parents.

وكن للمسلمين ولا تكلهم

وكن للمسلمين ولا تكلهم

لغيرك يا إله المشرقين

لغيرك يا إله المشرقين

And stand by the Muslims, and do not entrust them

And be for the Muslims and do not entrust them

To anyone but You, O God of the two Easts.

To other than You, O God of the Two Easts.

ووفقهم وعاملهم بخير

ووفقهم وعاملهم بخير

وأسكنهم فسيح الجنتين

وأسكنهم فسيح الجنتين

And grant them success, and treat them with goodness,

And grant them success and treat them with goodness,

And lodge them in the spacious expanse of the two Gardens.

And settle them in the vastness of the two Gardens.

وعاملني بفضلك واعف عني

وعاملني بفضلك واعف عني

وسامح والدي وأقض ديني

وسامح والدي وأقض ديني

And deal with me by Your grace, and pardon me,

And treat me with Your bounty and pardon me,

And forgive my parents, and discharge my debt.

And forgive and pay off my debt my parents.

ومتعني بعود الحجج وامنن

ومتعني بعود الحجج وامنن

بوزرة قبر خير الفرقتين

بوزرة قبر خير الفرقتين

And let me enjoy the years as they return, and favor me

And allow me the return of pilgrimages, and gift me

With a visit to the tomb of the best of the two groups.

With visiting the Grave of the Best of Mankind.

ووف جزائي وأختم لم بخير

ووف جزائي وأختم لم بخير

ولقبني جواب السائلين

ولقبني جواب السائلين

And grant my reward in full, and give me a good ending,

And fulfill my reward and conclude with good,

And prompt me with the answer to the questioners.

And name me as one who responds to supplicants.

وصل على نبيك ما أجيلت

وصل على نبيك ما أجيلت

قداح البرق بين الخافين

قداح البرق بين الخافين

And bless Your Prophet, so long as there are cast

And send blessings upon Your Prophet as long as

The lightning's divining arrows between the two horizons.

Lightning flashes between clouds with rain.
