أإبْرَاهِيمُO Ibrahim لِمْwhy أعْرَضْتَyou turned away عَنِّيfrom me
أإبْرَاهِيمُ لِمْ أعْرَضْتَ عَنِّي
وَمَنْعُكَand your withholding لِلسَّلاَمِof a greeting هوit is السِّلاَمُhard stones
وَمَنْعُكَ لِلسَّلاَمِ هو السِّلاَمُ
O Ibrahim, why have you turned away from me?
Why, Ibrahim, have you turned away from me
And your withholding of a greeting is hard stone.
And your withholding of peace is itself peace
وَهَاand behold نِيرَانُthe fires خَدّكَof your cheek أحْرَقَتْنِيhave burned me
وَهَا نِيرَانُ خَدّكَ أحْرَقَتْنِي
فَأيْنَso where البَرْدُthe coolness فيهاin them وَالسَّلامُand peace
فَأيْنَ البَرْدُ فيها وَالسَّلامُ
And behold, the fires of your cheek have burned me.
See, the fires of your cheek have burnt me
So where in them are coolness and peace?
Then where is the coolness in them and peace
