I asked him for a kiss upon his cheek,
that I might pluck the basil sprig of his cheek.
فَقَالَso he said آسُthe myrtle الخَدّof the cheek لاَnot يُجْتَنَيis plucked
فَقُلْتُso I said لاَnot يُعْتَدُّheed is paid بِالْعَارِضِto the objection (also: the cheek)
He replied, “The cheek’s myrtle is not to be plucked.”
So I said, “An objection counts for nothing.”
