وَلَمَّاand when بَلَغْنَthey reached العِيسَthe white camels سَفْحَthe foot of مُفَرَّحMufarrah
وَأبْدَيْنَand they revealed مَاwhat أجْفَيْنَthey had held at bay منْof شِدَّةِthe intensity of الحُبّlove
And when the white camels reached the foot of Mufarrah,
When we reached the slope of Eesa in joy
and revealed the fierce love they had held at bay,
And revealed what we had concealed of intense love
وَلاَحَand shone سَنَاthe radiance of دَارِthe dwelling of الحَبِيبِthe beloved وَأعْجَلَتْand hurried
بِنَاwith us العِيسُthe white camels كيْso as to تُدْنيbring near الحبيبَthe beloved منto الرَّكْبِthe caravan
and the radiance of the beloved's dwelling shone, and onward sped
And the residence of the beloved appeared, hastening
the white camels bearing us, to bring the beloved near the caravan,
Eesa to bring the beloved closer to the caravan
فَرَشْتُI spread لَهَاfor them خَدّيmy cheek وِطَاءًas bedding علىon الثرىthe earth
وَأغْنَيْتُهَاand I made them independent بِالدمعwith tears عَنْof وَاكِفِthe falling rain of السُّحْبِthe clouds
I spread my cheek for them as bedding on the earth,
I laid my cheek as a rug on the ground for her
and with my tears spared them the need for the clouds' falling rain.
And with tears I quenched her thirst instead of rainclouds
وَلَمْand did not أعْطِI give إلاexcept كُلَّall مَاthat which مَلَكَتْpossessed يَدِيmy hand
وَرْوحِيand my soul لِحَادِيهَاto their camel-driver المُبَشِّرِthe bearer of glad tidings بِالْقُرْبِof nearness
And I gave nothing but all that my hand possessed,
I gave nothing but all that my hand possessed
and my soul, to their camel-driver who brought glad tidings of nearness.
And my soul to her harbinger of proximity
وَمَزَّقْتُand I tore apart قَلْبِيmy heart لِلْوُفُودِfor the visitors كَرَامَةًas a token of honor
وَقُلْتُand I said لِهَذَاfor this اليومday صُنْتُكَI kept you safe يَاO قَلْبِيmy heart
And I tore my heart apart in honor of the visitors,
I tore my heart to pieces for the guests in generosity
and said, 'For this day I kept you safe, O my heart.'
And I said to this day - I protected you, O my heart!
