وفَشَتْand divulged ألْسُنُtongues نَمَّامِthe tale-bearer of السَّحَرْdawn
وفَشَتْ ألْسُنُ نَمَّامِ السَّحَرْ
سِرَّهُhis secret المَكْتُومْhidden
سِرَّهُ المَكْتُومْ
And the tongues of dawn’s tale-bearer divulged
And the tongues of dawn’s tale-bearer divulged
his secret, kept concealed;
his hidden secret;
وَسَقَىand gave to drink الأدْوَاحَthe spreading trees جِرْيَالُcrimson wine المَطَرْthe rain
وَسَقَى الأدْوَاحَ جِرْيَالُ المَطَرْ
كَاسَهُits cup المَخْتَومْsealed
كَاسَهُ المَخْتَومْ
and the rain’s wine gave the spreading trees to drink
and the rain’s crimson wine gave the spreading trees
from its sealed cup.
