وَالصدغُ لَوَى سَلاَسِلَ الريحَانِ

وَالصدغُ لَوَى سَلاَسِلَ الريحَانِ

لِلْمُنْتَشِقِ

لِلْمُنْتَشِقِ

And the sidelock twisted the chains of basil

Roses' chains the temple twisted

for the one who breathes in the scent.

For the ecstatic scented blissed

وَالخَالُ شَكَا لِخَالِهَا النُّعْمانِ

وَالخَالُ شَكَا لِخَالِهَا النُّعْمانِ

نَارَ الجُرَقِ

نَارَ الجُرَقِ

And the beauty spot complained to her uncle al-Nuʿmān

And the mole complained unto its fellow mole

of the fire of sparks.
