وَبِيِand I am smitten with مَائِسٌa swaying beloved لَوْلاَwere it not for بَنَفْسَجُthe violet خَالِهِhis mole
وَآسُand the myrtle عِذَارَيْهِhis two sideburns وَوَرْدُand the roses خُدُودِهِhis cheeks
And I am smitten with a swaying beloved—but for the violet of his mole,
and the myrtle of his sideburns and the roses of his cheeks,
لَمَاwould not have هَامَyearned passionately قَلْبِيmy heart بِالْعَقِيقِfor al-Aqiq وَبَانِهِand its bān trees
وَلاَnor ضَلَّstrayed طَرْفِيmy gaze فِيin الحِمَىal-Hima (the protected pasture) وَزَرُودِهِand its Zarud
my heart would not have yearned for al-Aqiq and its bān trees,
nor would my gaze have strayed in al-Hima and its Zarud.
