وَحَمْرَاءَand a red wine كَاليَاقُوتِlike ruby فِيin كَأسِa goblet of جَوْهَرٍcrystal
وَحَمْرَاءَ كَاليَاقُوتِ فِي كَأسِ جَوْهَرٍ
أرَتْكَit showed you أقَاحًاdaisies حَلَّsettled فِيهِin it شَقِيقُanemones
أرَتْكَ أقَاحًا حَلَّ فِيهِ شَقِيقُ
And a wine red as ruby in a crystal goblet
Showed you daisies amid which anemones had settled.
إذَاwhen مَاemphatic particle جَلاَdisplayed السَّاقِيthe cupbearer عَلَىto الصَّحْبِthe companions كَأسَهَاits cup
إذَا مَا جَلاَ السَّاقِي عَلَى الصَّحْبِ كَأسَهَا
حَسِبْتَyou thought لُجَيْنًاsilver ذَابَmelted فِيهِin it عَقِيقُcarnelian
حَسِبْتَ لُجَيْنًا ذَابَ فِيهِ عَقِيقُ
Whenever the cupbearer displayed its cup to the companions,
You thought it silver in which carnelian had melted.
