وَحَدِيقَةٍ عَبَثَ النَّسِيمُ بِزَهْرِهَا

وَحَدِيقَةٍ عَبَثَ النَّسِيمُ بِزَهْرِهَا

فَأزَالَ وِحْشَتَهَا وَأضْحَكَ ثَغْرَهَا

فَأزَالَ وِحْشَتَهَا وَأضْحَكَ ثَغْرَهَا

And a garden—the breeze played with her blossoms,

The breeze toyed with the garden's flowers

So he dispelled her loneliness and made her mouth smile.

It dispelled its gloom and made it smile

وَغَداَ يُشَبِّبُ إذْ بَكَتْهُ عُيُونُهَا

وَغَداَ يُشَبِّبُ إذْ بَكَتْهُ عُيُونُهَا

فَأرَقَّ بُلْبُلَهَا وَسَلْسَلَ نَهْرَهَا

فَأرَقَّ بُلْبُلَهَا وَسَلْسَلَ نَهْرَهَا

And he began singing of love when her eyes wept for him,

Then it grew up, when its eyes wept

So he made her nightingale tender and made her river murmur.

It saddened its bulbul and stilled its stream
