وَمُعَذَّرٍand a downy-cheeked youth سَلَبَrobbed الحَدَائِقَthe gardens آسَهَاtheir myrtle
وَأعَارَهَاand lent them مِنْfrom خَدّهِhis cheek الوَرْدَthe roses الجَنِيfreshly picked
And a downy-cheeked youth robbed the gardens of their myrtle,
And the excuser robbed the gardens of their myrtles
And lent them freshly picked roses from his cheek.
And lent them from his cheek the picked roses
فَكَأنَّso it is as though وَجْنَتَهُhis cheek وَآسَand the myrtle عِذَارِهِof his sideburns

So it is as though his cheek and the myrtle of his sideburns
So it was as if his orchard and the myrtles of his excuse
Were anemone blossoms beneath a dusky night.
Were meadow saffron blooming under the darkest night
