Leave men to contend over wealth,

and do not concern yourself with amassing wealth.

The better of your two kinds of wealth is what you use to meet a need,

or what you bestow in generosity.

And the wealthy man is he whose radiant benefactions

crouch upon the necks of men.

And the nights know that, in their midst, I

am like a dawn that erased the nights’ blackness.
