إذا ما حذرتَ الأمر فَاِجعَل إزاءَه

إذا ما حذرتَ الأمر فَاِجعَل إزاءَه

رجوعاً إلى ربٍّ يقيك المحاذرا

رجوعاً إلى ربٍّ يقيك المحاذرا

If you fear a matter, set against it

If you fear a matter, then make

A turning to a Lord who shields you from dangers.

Turning to a Lord who protects you from dangers, your countermeasure

وَلا تَخشَ أَمراً أَنتَ فيهِ مفوِّضٌ

وَلا تَخشَ أَمراً أَنتَ فيهِ مفوِّضٌ

إِلى اللَّه غاياتٍ له ومصادرا

إِلى اللَّه غاياتٍ له ومصادرا

And fear no matter when you entrust

And do not fear a matter in which you have consigned

Its ends and its beginnings to God.

Its ends to God and its courses

وَلا تُنهِضَنْ في الأمرِ قَوماً أذلّةً

وَلا تُنهِضَنْ في الأمرِ قَوماً أذلّةً

إِذا قعدوا جنباً أقاموا المعاذرا

إِذا قعدوا جنباً أقاموا المعاذرا

And do not rouse abject men to an undertaking:

And do not rouse a subjugated people

When they hang back, they put forward excuses.

If they sit aside, they offer excuses

وَكنْ للّذي يَقضي بِهِ اللَّه وَحدَه

وَكنْ للّذي يَقضي بِهِ اللَّه وَحدَه

وإنْ لم توافقه الأمانيُّ شاكرا

وإنْ لم توافقه الأمانيُّ شاكرا

And for what God alone decrees, be

And be accepting of what Allah alone decrees

Grateful, even if hopes do not accord with it.

Even if wishes do not agree with it, grateful

وَلا تَفخَرنْ إلّا بِثوبِ صيانةٍ

وَلا تَفخَرنْ إلّا بِثوبِ صيانةٍ

إذا كنت يوماً بالفضيلة فاخرا

إذا كنت يوماً بالفضيلة فاخرا

And boast only of a garment of integrity,

And do not boast except with the garment of chastity

If ever you take pride in virtue.

If one day you were pride in virtue

وَإنّي كَفيلٌ بِالنّجاء منَ الأذى

وَإنّي كَفيلٌ بِالنّجاء منَ الأذى

لِمن لَم يَبتْ يدعو سوى اللَّه ناصرا

لِمن لَم يَبتْ يدعو سوى اللَّه ناصرا

And indeed, I guarantee deliverance from harm

And I guarantee salvation from harm

For whoever spends no night calling on a helper other than God.

For whoever did not extend his hand, except to God as helper
