    If I find no gracious friend among people,

    then who among them can provide me with a courteous enemy?

    For I see nothing but a foe whom I fear

    for my own safety, and who daily targets my vital parts.

    And whenever I ponder my ordeal because of him,

    I strike my brow or bite my fingertips.

    وفي الشّرّ تلقى فاعلاً غيرَ قائلِ

    And in matters of good, you find one who speaks but does not act;

    and in matters of evil, you find one who acts but does not speak.
