أما رأيتَ ضُحَيّاً

أُدْمَ الرّكائب تُحدى

Have you not seen a gazelle

With beautiful does challenging the litters

يُردْنَ نجداً وما اِشتا

قَ مَن عليهنَّ نجدا

Returning to Najd though not longing for it

For none call Najd their home

وَفَوقَهنّ وجوهٌ

مثلُ النجومِ تَبدّى

Above them are faces

Like stars appearing

يَغرُبن بدراً ويطلُعْ

نَ بالإيابة سعدا

Setting like a full moon and rising again

With good fortune in returning

وقد تجلّدتُ حتّى

يخالنِي القومُ جَلْدَا

I have endured patiently until

The people think me insensitive

وما رَدِيتُ وممّا

أودّ أنّي أُردى

Though I have not turned away from what

I wish to face

قل للقِلاصِ خفافاً

يَخِدْنَ بالظّعنِ وَخْدا

Tell the guide to hurry

Gliding smoothly and briskly

تخالهنُّ سِراعاً

رُبْداً يبارين رُبْدا

You would think them a mirage

Racing with each other

بمنْ حملتنّ وجدِي

وَما حملتُنَّ وجْدا

For whom have I borne passion

When I have borne no fervor

حَلفتُ بالبيتِ جاؤوا

إليهِ رَكْضاً وشدّا

I swore by the House they came

Rushing to it hastily

مطوِّفين عليهِ

تُقىً كهولاً ومُرْدا

Circling it devoutly

Elders and youth alike

وَالوارِدينَ ظِماءً

مِن ماءِ زَمزَمَ رَغْدا

Those arriving thirsty

Drinking fully from Zamzam

وَالبائِتينَ بجَمْعٍ

لاقين في اللَّهِ جُهْدا

Those staying overnight assembled

Exerting themselves sincerely for God

يُقلِلْنَ من مَرْوِ جَمْعٍ

للرّمْيِ زوجاً وفَرْدا

Lessening their arrows at Mina

In pairs and singly

لهمْ أناملُ عِيضَتْ

من جِلدها ثَمَّ جِلْدا

Their fingers calloused

Skin over skin

وبالنحائرِ تُلْقى

عند الجِمارِ فتُرْدى

Sacrifices made

Cast by the stone pillars and left

تُهدى إلى اللَّهِ بِرّاً

وَالبِرُّ للَّهِ يُهدى

Dedicated to God in righteousness

For righteousness is dedicated to God

وواقفِي عَرَفاتٍ

يَرجونَ للَّهِ رِفْدا

Those standing at Arafat

Hoping from God abundance

ما أنْ ترى ثَمّ إلّا

ربّاً لعبدٍ وعبدا

Wherever you look, only

A Lord to a servant and a servant

عدّوا الّذي كان منهمْ

وَاِستَنفَروا منه عدّا

They numbered those

From whom they sought aid

لَقد خَلفتُ ألوفاً

للنّاس عهداً ووُدّا

Indeed I have succeeded thousands

In covenant and affection

وما تعاطيتُ هَزْلاً

ولا تعافيتُ جِدّا

I have never acted lightly

Or neglected earnestness

ولا صددتُ بوجهِي

عمّنْ جنى لِيَ صدّا

I have not turned my face

From those who have wronged me

وَلا تَجاوَزت قصداً

ولا تعدّيتُ حدّا

I have not overstepped my purpose

Or transgressed my limit

ولا وهبتُ وداداً

وسُمتُ مُعطاه ردّا

I have not granted affection

And deemed its giver unworthy

قل للوزير أبي سع

دٍ الّذي جلّ مَجْدا

Tell Abu Saeed the minister

Of glorious rank

يا أوثقَ النّاسِ عقداً

وأعذبَ النّاسِ وِرْدا

O most faithful of men in pledge

Sweetest of men in conversation

لا راعهمْ منك بينٌ

ولا رأوْا منك بُعْدا

They saw in you no flaw

And no distance

فَما اِستَطاعوا لفضلٍ

آتاك ربُّك جَحْدا

So by the favor

Your Lord granted you, they resented no enmity

سلّوك طوراً ولكنْ

للسلّ صانوك غِمْدا

They occasionally provoked you but

The scabbard protected you from their drawing swords

فإنْ ضَرَبْتَ فماضٍ

قدّ الضّريبة قدّا

When you impose taxation they yield

As the exemplar in imposition

ما زلتَ فيهمْ سِناناً

للرّمح والسّيف حدّا

You remain among them a spearhead

Sharp as a blade

وما أردتَ على الهَوْ

لِ نَجْدَةً منك جُندا

You wanted no aid from them

For your battalions

فَإنْ رُمُوا كنتَ تُرساً

وإنْ ورَوْا كنت زندا

If they shoot, you are a shield

If they charge, you are a fortress

وإن دَجَوْا كنت صُبحاً

وَإِن ضَحوْا كنت بَرْدا

If they scheme, you are the dawn

If they appear, you are hail

خُذْ مِلءَ كفّيك من عا

مِكَ الّذي جاء رِفْدا

Take with both hands from

Your cloud that brought abundance

وما وُعدتَ به خذْ

ومن يد الدّهرِ نقْدا

And what you were promised, take

In cash from the days

ما كنتَ تمطُلُ وَعْداً

فكيف تُمطَلُ وعْدا

You have never delayed a promise

So how can you neglect a vow

وَاِستَشعرِ النُّجْحَ دِرْعاً

واِلبَسْ منَ اليُمْنِ بُرْدا

Feel success your armor

And wear good fortune your cloak

وَعِشْ فَما العَيشُ إلّا

ما كان رحْباً ورَغْدا

Live! For life holds nothing

Except what is spacious and plentiful

يُراحُ بابُكَ فينا

قصداً إليه ويُغدى

Your door is wide to us

Approached and frequented

وَاِخلدْ فخُلدُك أَوْفى

منّا علينا وأجْدى

Endure! For your endurance is truer

To us and more beneficial

ولا يزلن نيوبُ ال

خطوبِ حولك دُرْدا

May the claws of calamities surrounding you

Remain blunted

ولا رأينا لشيءٍ

نَهواهُ عندكَ فَقدا

We have seen nothing

Forbidden in your presence ever miss
