ولَستُ بطَوْعكما فاِتركاني
Desist, you two: your concern is not mine.
Lessen your blame, for your way differs from mine,
I am not at your bidding, so leave me.
And I am not compliant, so leave me be.

Do not burden yourselves with reproving one who will not listen;
Do not tax me with the blame of one who wails,
you will not turn me aside by reproaching me.
You do me no justice by blaming me.

My passion alters the rosy cheeks,
and my ardor is not for union with beauties.
And my fervor finds no solace in the trysts.

love is nothing but the heart's idleness.
For love is but the vacancy of the soul.

Because of the obsessive whisperings of this passion,
For the sake of this passion’s disquiet,
the mighty man dwelt in the abode of humiliation.
The mighty lived in the abode of disgrace.

Hunting amidst the likeness of the coward.

radiant, in place of the faces of beauties.
For the absence of the beautiful faces.

Whiter to me than the white eggs are the blades
and brown thrusting-spears spare me brown-skinned women.
Pierced in the necks on the day of trial.
