حَلَلتَ كِتافي يا أَخي وَهوَ موثِقُ

حَلَلتَ كِتافي يا أَخي وَهوَ موثِقُ

وَنَفَّستَ عَنّي ما بِهِ كُنتُ أُخنَقُ

وَنَفَّستَ عَنّي ما بِهِ كُنتُ أُخنَقُ

You loosened my bonds, my brother, though they bound me fast.

You untied my shoulders though fettered, my brother,

And you relieved me of what was choking me.

And eased what choked me within and without;

وَأَمطَرتَني مِن سُحبِ جودِكَ نائِلاً

وَأَمطَرتَني مِن سُحبِ جودِكَ نائِلاً

غَدا مِنه أَمري وَهوَ رَيّانٌ مونِقُ

غَدا مِنه أَمري وَهوَ رَيّانٌ مونِقُ

And you showered me with bounty from the clouds of your generosity.

You rained on me from the clouds of your bounty,

Through it my fortunes grew lush and fair.

Till in the morn my case is clear and bright;

فَجيدِيَ بِالنَعماءِ مِنكَ مُقَلَّدٌ

فَجيدِيَ بِالنَعماءِ مِنكَ مُقَلَّدٌ

وَجيدُكَ بِالإِطراءِ مِنّي مُطَوَّقُ

وَجيدُكَ بِالإِطراءِ مِنّي مُطَوَّقُ

So my neck wears a necklace of favors from you,

So around my neck your favors are knotted,

And your neck is encircled with praise from me.

And my praise as necklace encircles your throat.
