Two kinds of pearls: pearls of dew and pearls of daisies,
Pearls of dew and pearls of meadows,
And the silver of cups and the gold of wine,
And leaves that are drinking cups, and aromatic basil,

And birdsong, darkly coloring all that
And the songs of birds that trill all
They fashion from their notes with gentle ease.
The melodies they've fashioned with their throats.

تَقَدَحfind fault عَلىin the manner of اللُوّامِthe reproachers فيwith الأَقداحِthe goblets
تَقَدَح عَلى اللُوّامِ في الأَقداحِ
So keep your reproach from hurting my ears, and do not
So spare me the blame of your hearing, and do not
Disparage the goblets in the reproachers’ manner.
Strike the fault-finders with the wine cups.
فَأَناfor I الجَموحُthe headstrong one وَماand not أَظُنُّكَI think you قادِراًable

بِقُوى مَلامِكَ أَن تُرَدَّ جَماحي
For I am headstrong, and I do not think you able,
For I am impetuous, and I don't think you're able
With the force of your reproach, to rein in my wildness.
With the force of your blame to restrain my wings.
