بَدَت الثُرَيّا وَالنُجومُ تَحُفُّها

بَدَت الثُرَيّا وَالنُجومُ تَحُفُّها

وَالجَوُّ بَينَ غَياهِبٍ وَدَياجي

وَالجَوُّ بَينَ غَياهِبٍ وَدَياجي

The Pleiades appeared, with the stars surrounding them,

The Pleiades appeared, and stars surround them,

And the sky lay amid deep darkness and the gloom of night.

The sky between darkness and mist.

فَكَأَنَّما هَذي خَريطَةُ فَضَّةٍ

فَكَأَنَّما هَذي خَريطَةُ فَضَّةٍ

وَكَأَنَّما هَذي بَنادِقُ عاجِ

وَكَأَنَّما هَذي بَنادِقُ عاجِ

So it was as though this were a silver pouch,

As if it were a map of silver,

And as though these were ivory balls.

As if it were tusks of ivory.
