جَفانيshunned me مَنthe one who كَلِفتُI was enamored بِهِof him لِذَنبِfor a fault
وَماand not يَخلوis free الجَوادُthe noble steed مِنَfrom العِثارِstumbling
The one I was enamored of shunned me for a fault;
The one I was charged with has abandoned me for a sin
And no noble steed is free from stumbling.
And the generous is not free of stumbling
فَحينَso when لَقَيتُهُI met him وَجهاًface بِوَجهٍto face
قَطَعتُI cut short لَهُto him مُصانَعَةُconciliation اِعتِذاريmy apology
So when I met him face to face,
So when I met him face to face
I cut short my conciliatory apology to him.
I tried to make excuses and reconcile
فَلَمso did not يَهجُمassail عَلىupon سَمعيmy hearing بِعَتبِwith reproach
وَأَعطانيand he gave me أَمانَassurance الإِغتِفارِforgiveness
So he did not assail my hearing with reproach,
But he did not assault my hearing with reproach
And gave me the assurance of forgiveness.
And gave me the safety of forgiveness
