    وَالجَوُّ في تَرحَةٍ وَفي كُرَبِ

    The garden is in joy and rapture,

    And the sky in sorrow and anguish;

    It scatters pearls from its clouds’ tears

    Upon narcissus blossoms gleaming like gold.

    So drink beside a pomegranate blossom, and beside

    An anemone, with the large cup, and choose

    From the vine’s daughter, as though she were a flame

    Which you drink from them both, upon a flame.
