She went in the morning to his monastery and her refuge,
She returned to her monastery and dwelling

لَو مَرَّ وَهمٌ بِها لَأَدماها
A delicate maiden with a rose-colored cheek—
A garden for her, verdant
if a thought passed over it, it would make it bleed.
If worries passed by, they would stain it
يَحتَشِمُis abashed القَطرُthe rain مِنbefore مُقَبَّلِهاher lips

The rain is abashed before her lips,
The rain is modest from her kiss
and the garden blushes before her front teeth.
And the meadow shy by her sides

Then my heart said: Why do you not love her?
My heart said why don’t you love her
I replied: One like me does not love her.
I said one like me, who does not adore her

My honor scarcely allows me to be
I have an honor that barely leaves me
a slave to one who does not worship God.
A slave to one who does not worship God
