Raindrops, between scattered and strung;
Some raindrops are scattered, others strung together;
Boughs, some in ṭaylasān cloaks and some turbaned;
And some boughs are shawl-clad, others turbaned;

Water, now meandering, now descending in tiers;
And the water is partly winding, partly cascading in tiers;
Plants, some studded with dinars, some with dirhams;
And some plants are dinar-decked, others dirham-decked;

And our gardens in patterned pistachio-green.
And our gardens wear patterned pistachio-green;

So drink amid the violets’ night, and pour for me,
So drink amid the night of violets, and give me a drink,
As long as it remains mingled with the dawn of the khurram blossoms.
As long as it remains mingled with the dawn of khurram blossoms.
