ياO ذاyou there الَّذيwho لَمdid not يَدَعleave ليfor me
يا ذا الَّذي لَم يَدَع لي
بِالعَتبِthrough reproach جَنباًa flank صَحيحاunhurt
بِالعَتبِ جَنباً صَحيحا
O you who have not left me
O you who left me no side for reproach,
a flank unhurt by reproach,
Why do you advise one from me,
عَلامَwhy تَنصَحُyou counsel مِنّيin me
عَلامَ تَنصَحُ مِنّي
مَنone who يَستَغِشُّdeems deceitful النَصيحاthe sincere adviser
مَن يَستَغِشُّ النَصيحا
why counsel someone like me,
Who ignores advice?
who deems the sincere adviser deceitful?
Grant me, I obeyed you regarding one,
هَبنيsuppose that I أَطَعتُكَI obeyed you فيمَنconcerning the one whom
هَبني أَطَعتُكَ فيمَن
صَيَّرتُهُI made him ليfor me روحاa soul
صَيَّرتُهُ لي روحا
Suppose I obeyed you concerning the one
Whom I made my soul,
whom I have made my soul:
So how can I desist from him,
فَكَيفَthen how أَقلُعُI sail away عَنهُfrom him
فَكَيفَ أَقلُعُ عَنهُ
وَماand not أَرىI see لِيَfor me ريحاa wind
وَما أَرى لِيَ ريحا
then how can I sail away from him
When I see no relief for myself?
when I see no wind for me?
