ووشيُ زهرٍ وخزُّ دجنِ

Morning’s fine linen and wine’s red silk,

The morning draught and no parting after,

Flowers’ embroidery and the silk of clouded skies:

The flower's fragrance and the virgin's veil,

أربَعةٌ ما اجتمعنَ إلا

عاشَ سروري وماتَ حزني

عاشَ سروري وماتَ حزني

Four things—whenever they come together,

Four things they've never joined together

My joy comes alive and my sorrow dies.
