    Lip-nectar like Khusraw's pure wine,

And a smiling mouth like a chrysanthemum blossom,

Belong to a coy one, whose temple-lock and cheek

Are like separation's night amid the dawn of closeness.

He kept coming to me in loving union, until

Once he attained his desires from me, he shunned me.

So, O sorrow! Through my ill-starred fortune, you fell

Upon my face—is there a helper for a captive?
