خَمِّر بِدارِ الفَناءِ

خَمِّر بِدارِ الفَناءِ

زاداً لِدارِ البَقاءِ

زاداً لِدارِ البَقاءِ

Lay up, in the abode of passing,

Prepare, in the abode of mortality,

provisions for the abode everlasting.

وَلا يَطِب لَكَ غَيٌّ

وَلا يَطِب لَكَ غَيٌّ

فَالغَيُّ شَرُّ غِذاءِ

فَالغَيُّ شَرُّ غِذاءِ

Let misguidance never taste sweet to you,

And let no waywardness please you,

for misguidance is the worst of foods.

for waywardness is the worst nourishment.

لِمَ لا تَكونُ طِرازاً

لِمَ لا تَكونُ طِرازاً

لِحُلَّةِ الأَتقِياءِ

لِحُلَّةِ الأَتقِياءِ

Why not become an embroidered band

Why do you not become an embroidered adornment

upon the robe of the God-fearing?

for the robe of the God-fearing?

إِذا اِشتَهَيتَ نَجاةً

إِذا اِشتَهَيتَ نَجاةً

فَاِتبَع جَليلَ الدُعاءِ

فَاِتبَع جَليلَ الدُعاءِ

If you long for deliverance,

If you desire salvation,

then cleave to noble supplication.

then pursue noble supplication.

وَاِرتُب خَضوعُكَ تَلحَق

وَاِرتُب خَضوعُكَ تَلحَق

بِعَفوِ رَبِّ السَماءِ

بِعَفوِ رَبِّ السَماءِ

Keep your submission steadfast, and you shall attain

And be steadfast in your humility; you will attain

إِذا وَجَدتَ نَعيماً

تَبيعُهُ بِشَقاءِ

If you have found bliss,

When you find bliss,

would you sell it for misery?
