اِفتَضَّ حُمرَةَ خَدِّهِ

اِفتَضَّ حُمرَةَ خَدِّهِ

بِاللَحظِ طَرفي إِذ رَنا

بِاللَحظِ طَرفي إِذ رَنا

It deflowered the blush of his cheek—

The redness of his cheek was deflowered

my eye, with its glance, when it gazed;

فَجَلَدتُهُ بِدُموعِهِ

وَالحَدُّ يَلزَمُ مَن زَنى

وَالحَدُّ يَلزَمُ مَن زَنى

so I flogged it with its tears—

So I flogged it with its tears,

for the prescribed penalty binds whoever fornicates.

And whoever fornicates is subject to the prescribed punishment.
