إِنّيIndeed, I لأَحفَظُsurely preserve وُدَّthe affection of مَنone whom صافَيتُهُI sincerely befriended
إِنّي لأَحفَظُ وُدَّ مَن صافَيتُهُ
وُدّيmy affection وَأَصفَحُand I pardon دائِباًcontinually عَنwith regard to عَتبِهِhis reproach
وُدّي وَأَصفَحُ دائِباً عَن عَتبِهِ
Indeed, I preserve the affection of one to whom I have offered
I remember fondly those whose friendship I hold dear,
My sincere love, and continually overlook his reproach.
My friendship endures, I am always forgiving of reproach,
وَيَسوؤُنيand it saddens me ماwhat ساءَهُsaddened him وَيَسُرُّنيand it gladdens me
وَيَسوؤُني ما ساءَهُ وَيَسُرُّني
ماwhat سَرَّهُgladdened him فيin بُعدِهِhis distance أَوor قُربِهِhis nearness
ما سَرَّهُ في بُعدِهِ أَو قُربِهِ
And what saddens him saddens me, and I am gladdened by
What displeases them displeases me, what gives them joy brings me joy,
What gladdens him, whether he is far away or near.
Whether they are near or far in their distance from me.
