إِذا اِعتَمَدَ المَرءُ لُقيا الهَوى

إِذا اِعتَمَدَ المَرءُ لُقيا الهَوى

وَبادَرَ بِالسَعيِ مِنهُ إِلَيهِ

وَبادَرَ بِالسَعيِ مِنهُ إِلَيهِ

If a man resolves to meet love,

And hastens of his own accord to pursue it,

فَلا تَحرِصَنَّ عَلى نُصحِهِ

فَلا تَحرِصَنَّ عَلى نُصحِهِ

فَما اَنتَ أَشفَقُ مِنهُ عَلَيهِ

فَما اَنتَ أَشفَقُ مِنهُ عَلَيهِ

Then do not be eager to counsel him,

For you are no more concerned for him than he is for himself.
