دَلَّهُhis coquetry دَلَّهُled him عَلىto إِذلاليhumiliating me
دَلَّهُ دَلَّهُ عَلى إِذلالي
وَنَهاهُand forbade him جَمالُهُhis beauty عَنfrom وِصاليunion with me
وَنَهاهُ جَمالُهُ عَن وِصالي
His coquetry led him to humiliate me,
And his beauty kept him from union with me.
فَنَعيميso my bliss بُؤسٌmisery وَأَيّامُand the days of عَيشيmy life
فَنَعيمي بُؤسٌ وَأَيّامُ عَيشي
فيin زَمانِthe time of الصُدودِestrangement مِثلُlike اللَياليthe nights
في زَمانِ الصُدودِ مِثلُ اللَيالي
So my bliss is misery, and the days of my life
In the time of estrangement are like nights.
