And a precious goblet beyond all worth.

أَن تَكونَ الكُرومِ إِلّا كَرمَه
From noble vines—and it is impossible
Of generous vineyards and estates to be
For vines to be anything but generous.
Yours if you desire such wealth.

And cups, the slender ones displayed
Graceful slender cups and others bold
With their garlands, and others stout.
Adorned in garlands before your eyes.

And there is conversation set aside
A remedy that heals ailing souls.
To cure souls made ill and cold.

And if you wish for one to sing, I have
A singing girl with melodious songs.
A songbird whose tunes allure.

And by my life, you'll find in my garden
A flower dwelling in the gardens of my meadow.
No blossom but stays and endures.

So put my waiting to flight by hastening;
So put to rest this waiting upon me,
I seek aid, so grant me that rout.
I'm calling for aid, make haste don't delay!

Offer your time for what I've set aside
In favors and generous deeds of old.
Of hands and ancient favors.

Before youth flees; for however much
Before the running of youth, so take care-
You seek it, you seek something hard to bridle.
However you aim, its zeal is hard to tame.

And seize a day, for I am one
Seize the day! For I'm not one to
From whom holding back brings no gain.
Lounge lazy while time does claim.
