لا تَبِعِ المَعروفَ بِالمُنكَرِ

لا تَبِعِ المَعروفَ بِالمُنكَرِ

إِن شِئتَ أَن تَربَحَ في المَتجَرِ

إِن شِئتَ أَن تَربَحَ في المَتجَرِ

Do not sell goodness for evil,

Do not repay good with evil

If you wish to profit in the marketplace.

If you wish to profit in trade

وَإِن رَأَيتَ الإِثمَ في مَوسِمٍ

وَإِن رَأَيتَ الإِثمَ في مَوسِمٍ

فَلا تُزايِد فيهِ مَن يَشتَري

فَلا تُزايِد فيهِ مَن يَشتَري

And if you see sin at a fair,

And if you see sin in the market

Then do not outbid whoever buys it.

Do not outbid the buyer

وَعامِلِ اللَهَ فَكَم مِن فَتىً

وَعامِلِ اللَهَ فَكَم مِن فَتىً

قَد عامَلَ اللَهَ فَلَم يَخسَرِ

قَد عامَلَ اللَهَ فَلَم يَخسَرِ

And deal with God, for many a young man

And serve God, for many a man

Has dealt with God and suffered no loss.

Has served God and not lost
