لا تَرِدِ البُخلَ ما حَييتَ فَما

لا تَرِدِ البُخلَ ما حَييتَ فَما

فاضَ بِخَيرٍ مُذ كانَ مَورِدُهُ

فاضَ بِخَيرٍ مُذ كانَ مَورِدُهُ

Do not approach stinginess as long as you live, for never

Do not deny generosity as long as you live, for

has its wellspring overflowed with good since it came to be.

No stream has ever run dry since its source first flowed.

وَاِغتَرِسِ الجودَ حَيثُ كُنتُ وَلا

وَاِغتَرِسِ الجودَ حَيثُ كُنتُ وَلا

تَندَمُ عَلى المالِ حينَ تَحصُدُهُ

تَندَمُ عَلى المالِ حينَ تَحصُدُهُ

And plant generosity wherever I have been, and do not

Cultivate giving wherever you are, and never

regret the wealth when you reap it.

Regret the money when you reap its harvest.

ما أَمِنَ الذَمَّ خَلفَهُ أَحَدٌ

ما أَمِنَ الذَمَّ خَلفَهُ أَحَدٌ

إِن لَم يَكُن مِن وَراهُ يَحمَدُهُ

إِن لَم يَكُن مِن وَراهُ يَحمَدُهُ

No one has been safe from blame behind his back

No one is safe from blame behind his back

if there is no one behind him to praise him.

Unless there is one who praises him when he is gone.
