كُن شاطِرَ الإِقرارِ لا تَجحَد أَخاً

كُن شاطِرَ الإِقرارِ لا تَجحَد أَخاً

ما كانَ مِنكَ إِلَيهِ خَوفُ قَصاصِ

ما كانَ مِنكَ إِلَيهِ خَوفُ قَصاصِ

Be adept at confession; do not deny to a brother

Be quick to acknowledge, do not deny a brother

what you did to him, out of fear of retribution.

Whatever of yours he fears will bring reprisal

وَاِصدُق إِذا اِدَّرَعَ الجَبانُ بِكَذبِهِ

وَاِصدُق إِذا اِدَّرَعَ الجَبانُ بِكَذبِهِ

فَلَرُبَّ صِدقٍ كانَ أَصلَ خَلاصِ

فَلَرُبَّ صِدقٍ كانَ أَصلَ خَلاصِ

And speak the truth when the coward armors himself with his falsehood;

And speak truth when the coward armors himself with lies

for many a truth has been a source of deliverance.
