And when morning appeared in the wake of dawn,

and darkness departed from us with its shining stars,

I turned toward the bathhouse, away from the path of sleep,

and came to it fleeing the hand of intoxication.

Then I saw there a young gazelle whose body was

more delicate than the water flowing over it.

He had sweat upon his cheeks, as though it were

dew upon roses, or bubbles upon wine.

So I felt as though I had entered the sky,

and the stars had scattered from it upon the full moon.
