وَشادِنٍ صادَني وَتَمَّ لَهُ

وَشادِنٍ صادَني وَتَمَّ لَهُ

ذاكَ بِفَضلٍ مِنَ المَلاحاتِ

ذاكَ بِفَضلٍ مِنَ المَلاحاتِ

And a young gazelle ensnared me, and he succeeded

He drew me close and I submitted to him,

In this through a wealth of charms.

Through a grace from intimacies;

حَتّى إِذا صِرتُ في مَحَبَّتِهِ

حَتّى إِذا صِرتُ في مَحَبَّتِهِ

مُقَيَّدَ القَلبِ بِالصَباباتِ

مُقَيَّدَ القَلبِ بِالصَباباتِ

Until, when in my love for him I became

Until when I was bound in his love,

Fettered at heart by passionate longings,

My heart enchained with passions,

رَكَّبَ لي مَنجَنيقَ هِجرَتِهِ

رَكَّبَ لي مَنجَنيقَ هِجرَتِهِ

وَزَجٍّ بي مِنهُ في الكَآباتِ

وَزَجٍّ بي مِنهُ في الكَآباتِ

He set up for me the catapult of his abandonment,

He erected over me the mangonel of his estrangement,

And from it hurled me into sorrows.

And cast me from him into sorrows.
