And a river among rivers—the hand of the east wind has cast
The morning breeze flung upon a river
Upon it red anemones whose fire blazes.
Whose red glow makes its white water seem to bleed,
كَأَنَّas though اِبيِضاضَwhiteness الماءِof the water تَحتَbeneath اِحمِرارِهِits redness

As though the water’s whiteness beneath their redness
As though the stream were a flashing sword blade
Were a sword blade over which blood has flowed.
With blood running down its gleaming steel.
