قَومٌ إِذا قاموا لِتَشييدِ العُلا

قَومٌ إِذا قاموا لِتَشييدِ العُلا

جَعَلوا الكَواكِبَ تَحتَها أَركانا

جَعَلوا الكَواكِبَ تَحتَها أَركانا

A people who, when they rise to build lofty glory,

A people, when erecting high glories

Make the stars pillars beneath it.

Made the stars beneath them pillars.

وَغَنَوا بِما صاغوهُ عَن أَن يَعقِدوا

وَغَنَوا بِما صاغوهُ عَن أَن يَعقِدوا

فَوقَ المَفارِقِ مِنهُمُ تيجانا

فَوقَ المَفارِقِ مِنهُمُ تيجانا

And through what they have fashioned, they need not fasten

And they sang of what they fashioned, disdaining

Crowns above the partings of their hair.

To weave over the summits crowns.

فَهُمُ الَّذينَ إِذا اِعتَصَمتَ بِحَبلِهِم

فَهُمُ الَّذينَ إِذا اِعتَصَمتَ بِحَبلِهِم

أَعطَتكَ مِنها الحادِثاتُ أَمانا

أَعطَتكَ مِنها الحادِثاتُ أَمانا

For they are such that, if you hold fast to their rope,

So they are those when you take refuge with their rope

Calamities grant you safety from themselves.

Events therefrom give you safety.
