Have Time's cycles truly turned against us?

Indeed, its fateful outcomes have fallen upon religion.

and laid Caesar low; his palaces did not protect him.

with force, confronting every rival who assails it.

drawing him near His holiness to dwell beside Him.

there are condolences for him, but in Paradise glad tidings of him.

its sunrise horizons, and today its eye is dark.

Religion has a grief whose fire is never quenched,

and sacred law has an eye whose rain never ceases.

and the age's nomads and townsfolk bore it abroad.

an ocean whose jewels adorn everyone's neck.

his radiant ways of life, mirrored by his innermost thoughts.

beacons bathing all creation in light.

and excellence's pillar fell, and its flourishing edifice collapsed.

when he died, and resolve's mail helmets be cleft.

just as every elegist's inkwells have been drained.

where his life is eternal and his rivers of abundance flow.

A towering mountain of lofty glory has been leveled,

and a surging sea of overflowing bounty has been drained.

A keen-edged, severing sword has been sheathed,

and a dazzling full moon of piercing light has been hidden.

for that grave's confines give off a sweet, spreading scent.

May the heavy raincloud water its soil, and may rain never cease

visiting it at evening as it returns, and greeting it at dawn.

Death is but a road whose course all share,

and a bridge all creation must cross.

Man is but mortal, and the son of a mortal,

and whoever begins with birth ends with death.
