رَدَّدَ الأنغَامَ فينَا المُطرِبُ
وحَكَىand echoed لحنَهُhis tune غَيثٌrain صِّيبُpouring
وحَكَى لحنَهُ غَيثٌ صِّيبُ
The singer repeated the melodies among us,
And pouring rain echoed his tune.
طابتِwere sweet الأفراحُthe celebrations منَّاfrom us كيفَhow لاَnot
طابتِ الأفراحُ منَّا كيفَ لاَ
وعَرِيسُand the bridegroom القَومِthe people فينَاamong us الطَّيِّبُthe good-hearted
وعَرِيسُ القَومِ فينَا الطَّيِّبُ
Our celebrations were sweet—how could they not be,
With the people's good-hearted bridegroom among us?
