    The seekers—and joined...

...together; and the beloveds won their beloveds.

    And we remained wavering, bewildered,

Between the bounds of union and avoidance.

We hope for nearness through distance, and this is

The very condition of an impossible return.

So give me a draught from you that dispels grief

And guides me to the path of what is right.

O physician of sickness, O balm for the wound,

And O my rescuer from ailments.

I do not know how to treat my sickness,

And by what I shall triumph on the Day of Reckoning.
