غيرَexcept أنهُthat he وهوwhile he is الطَّبيبُthe doctor الجَليلُdistinguished
One day I went to the doctor to be examined.
I once visited a doctor for an exam
But he, distinguished doctor though he was,
But he, the eminent doctor
كُلَّماwhenever مسَّhe touched مِنيof me عُضواًa body part يُناديhe calls out
إنَّindeed ذاthis مثلُlike ذاكَthat أيضاalso عَليلُailing
whenever he touched a part of my body, would call out:
Whenever he touched an organ, he cried out
“This, like that, is ailing too.”
"This one, like that, is also ill!"
قلتI said خَلِّleave العَليلَthe ailing فهوfor it is كَثيرُnumerous
ولَتعَدَand count الصَّحيحَthe healthy وهوand it is قَليلُfew
I said, “Leave the ailing parts—they are many—
I said, "Leave out the ill, for they are many
and count the healthy ones—they are few.”
And count the healthy, for they are few"
