رَبَّ النَّدى والجودِ وال

رَبَّ النَّدى والجودِ وال

مجدِ ورَبَّ الشَّمَمِ

مجدِ ورَبَّ الشَّمَمِ

O master of bounty and generosity and

O Lord of dew, generosity, glory,

glory, and master of lofty pride,

And Lord of the bright sun,

ومَن يقومُ ذِكرُه

ومَن يقومُ ذِكرُه

كالمِسك في كُلِّ فمِ

كالمِسك في كُلِّ فمِ

and you whose renown rises

He whose remembrance is like musk

like musk in every mouth.

In every mouth,

قَدِمتُ عن شوقٍ لِكَى

قَدِمتُ عن شوقٍ لِكَى

أراكَ رَغمَ سَقَمي

أراكَ رَغمَ سَقَمي

I came out of longing to

I came longing for You,

see you, despite my illness.

To see You despite my illness,

لكنَّ حظي لَم يُسا

لكنَّ حظي لَم يُسا

عِدني فزادَ ألَمَي

عِدني فزادَ ألَمَي

But my luck did not help

But my luck did not help me,

me, so my pain increased.

Only increasing my pain,

أَلله أَرجوهُ بأن

أَلله أَرجوهُ بأن

يَجمعَ شَملِي بكُمُ

يَجمعَ شَملِي بكُمُ

I pray to God that

O God, I hope of Him

He may reunite me with you.

To reunite me with you,

وأرتَجي يا سيدي

وأرتَجي يا سيدي

ردّ جَوابي مِنكمُ

ردّ جَوابي مِنكمُ

And I hope, my lord,

And I hope, my master,

for a reply to my letter from you.

You answer me,

لأنَّني مُسافِرٌ

لأنَّني مُسافِرٌ

قصدَ الدَّوا سَلِمتُمُ

قصدَ الدَّوا سَلِمتُمُ

For I am traveling

For I am a traveler

in search of a cure—may you be safe.

Seeking treatment, may you be well,

لا زلتَ في أوجِ العُلا

لا زلتَ في أوجِ العُلا

ولأخِيكم دُمتُمُ

ولأخِيكم دُمتُمُ

May you ever remain at the summit of glory,

You remain at the height of glory,

and may you endure for your brother.

While I, your brother, miss you.
