شخصٌ له عجائبٌ لا تُحصَرُ

شخصٌ له عجائبٌ لا تُحصَرُ

ومن عَجيبِ أمرِهِ ما نَذكُرُ

ومن عَجيبِ أمرِهِ ما نَذكُرُ

A person whose wonders cannot be encompassed,

A person whose wonders cannot be counted.

and among his wondrous traits is what we now recount:

And among the wonders of his nature is what we recount:

طورا يَكونُ ذَكرا وأُنثَى

طورا يَكونُ ذَكرا وأُنثَى

طوراً وتارَةً يكونُ خُنثى

طوراً وتارَةً يكونُ خُنثى

at one time he is male, and female

At times he is male, and female

at another; and sometimes he is intersex.

at other times; and sometimes he is a hermaphrodite.

وقد يكونُ تارةً جَمادَا

وقد يكونُ تارةً جَمادَا

وحيواناً طوراً إن أَرادا

وحيواناً طوراً إن أَرادا

Sometimes he may be an inanimate thing,

And sometimes he may be an inanimate object,

and at another time an animal, if he so wishes.

And at times an animal, if he wishes.

ومُفرَدا حيناً يُبصَرُ

ومُفرَدا حيناً يُبصَرُ

أَخا تَعَدُّدِ وذا لا يُنكَرُ

أَخا تَعَدُّدِ وذا لا يُنكَرُ

And at times he is seen as a single one,

And at times he is seen as singular,

a brother to plurality—and this cannot be denied.

Possessing multiplicity—and this is not denied.
